A Quilt for Sylvie

This quilt was a project for a friend's little girl born back in June. I didn't have a pattern this time around, just graph paper and a calculator. However, I'm working on another version of this quilt for a baby coming this winter, and building a tutorial as I go. So in a month or two I'll be adding a tutorial to make this quilt using layer cake (10x10) squares.

I also put together a couple of burp clothes, using a combination of this tutorial and this tutorial, with a few of the leftover fat quarters and a yellow flannel solid on the backs. For the elephant I used Heather Bailey's Effie and Ollie pattern. It was a really easy pattern to use compared to other stuffed animal patterns I've tried, but I still need some practice on not sewing over my seams!

The quilt top is made with the Wee Woodlands line from Moda, and Kona Bone.

The back is solids from the Wee Woodlands line with Kona Bone and Brown.

Overall, it came together pretty nicely. Jan, over at Quilt Chat, did a beautiful job on the quilting as usual! The only thing I'd do differently on this one would be a bit more fussy cutting. I only ended up fussy cutting one square, but I think the prints I used would have worked well for a lot more.
